GLOUCESTER CITY SHAMROCK FESTIVAL
CELEBRATING ½ WAY TO ST. PATTY'S DAY

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ – The Gloucester City Shamrock Festival is sure to spark excitement along the Delaware River Waterfront on Saturday, September 15 from 12:00 to 6:00 pm as visitors celebrate halfway to St. Patty's Day.

Sponsored by the Gloucester City Urban Enterprise Zone and the Gloucester City Irish Society, the event takes place at the Gloucester City Marina on King Street where visitors can enjoy a celebration of Irish culture through music, dance, food and live entertainment for all ages.  Other major contributors include Coors Light, Guinness, JAMCO Heating & A/C, Project Control Specialists & Barth Tax & Financial Services.

As part of the event, shoppers will enjoy an array of novelties, souvenirs, and merchandise while young children will be entertained by various mechanical rides and inflatables, provided by St. Mary's Parish.  Additionally, music lovers will surely find delight in the well-known international and local Irish sounds of the following Irish bands:
Black 47 – providing an exceptional Irish form of rock 'n' roll with songs covering topics from the Northern Ireland conflict to civil rights and urban unrest in contemporary New York. They currently tour both nationally and throughout Europe.

The Broken Shillelaghs -- from Brooklawn, NJ, they are a 6-piece Irish musical group featuring acoustic guitars, mandolin, bass, accordion, whistle, and drums who play regularly at local jaunts such as Oh! Hara's and Doc & Joe's Tavern in Gloucester City, Casey's On 3rd in North Wildwood, and Harper's Pub in Clementon.

Birnman Wood – a six member spirited group who give a fresh unique perspective to Irish music while providing high energy performances soaking in rich tradition and the history of the Celtic heritage.

The Misty Dew'rs – a local four member band from Gloucester City providing a wide variety of musical entertainment, from traditional Irish ballads to sing-a-long Irish American tunes to summertime-fun songs and Mummers' melodies - songs the whole family will enjoy!  Having played at various venues in and around Gloucester City in a number of forms since the early 1980's – at wakes or weddings and ev'ry fancy ball - , this group is sure to get your blood a-flowing and your heels a-toein'.

Greater Trenton Pipes & Drums – one of central New Jersey's finest pipe bands, boasting over 30 playing members this band rocks the house performing over 25 parades, concerts and private functions each year.

All bands will perform on two stages providing continuous live entertainment throughout the duration of the event.  For $5 each, visitors 16 and older can enter the band/beer area.  Ages 15 and under are free and may also enter the band/beer area however alcoholic beverages will only be served to those guests 21 and older.  Please note that all minors MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Also on site will be the Lynn Academy of Irish Dancers providing traditional step dance entertainment.
